This summer we were called upon to complete a foyer renovation project for repeat customers in Berwyn, PA. The first phase was demolition, and consisted of breaking up the existing tile floor, pulling down the brick façade wall paneling, and removing the door frame trim from the closet and front doors.
Next, we insulated the open beam ceiling to help with noise reduction and energy efficiency. We then installed drywall to the ceiling and walls. Then, new door and window frame trim was installed to match the rest of the house, bringing a sense of continuum to the space.
During the painting phase, the walls and ceiling were sealed with drywall primer. Using the proper primer is always an important consideration. You never want to skimp on the prep if a beautiful and long-lasting result is your desire. We finished these surfaces with two coats of Sherwin Williams’ “Emerald” latex paint in an Alabaster eggshell finish. The door and window trim was finished with two coats of Sherwin Williams’ Alabaster semi-gloss finish latex paint, also from their “Emerald” line. This bright, creamy color gives a more spacious feeling to this smaller area of the home.
For the finale, the floor was re-tiled with 12×24” Belmont Multi-color tiles in Porcelain Stone. Tile baseboards were also installed, and the room is completed with a fresh, clean aesthetic – the perfect backdrop for fall and holiday decorating!
