Enclosed Porch Insights
An enclosed add-on or porch, often called a sunroom, is a beautiful, fully enclosed space surrounded by windows. It provides homeowners the luxury of enjoying outdoor views comfortably, without concerns about insects, rain, or harsh weather. This unique feature effortlessly blends indoor comfort with the serene beauty of the outdoors.

Enclosed Porch Project in Ardmore, PA
Recently, our team at Taylor Painting & Carpentry undertook an exciting enclosed porch renovation project in Ardmore, PA, highlighting just how significantly this kind of renovation can elevate the beauty, practicality, and enjoyment of your home.
When we first visited the Ardmore home, the porch felt disconnected from the home’s style and lacked desirable warmth and energy efficiency. Our goal was clear: unify the space seamlessly with the home’s interior, enhance energy efficiency, and significantly elevate the porch’s overall aesthetic and practical appeal.
The Transformation Process
We began our transformation by removing built-in cabinets positioned along a striking stone wall between the entry doors. This crucial step immediately expanded the room visually and practically, allowing flexible furniture placement and dramatically improving the room’s overall flow.
Next, our attention shifted to the windows, essential features of any enclosed sunroom or enclosed porch. Ten stubborn storm window inserts, previously sealed shut with years of paint, were carefully removed and meticulously sanded. We reglazed windowpanes and replaced three damaged panes, sanding and cleaning each window thoroughly to prepare them for painting. This meticulous restoration ensured smooth operation and crystal-clear views.

We then addressed the walls, patching areas where cabinetry and shelving had been attached. Each door panel and piece of crown molding received a neutral gray primer, laying the perfect foundation for the new color. We applied three coats of Sherwin Williams’ premium Emerald paint in the sophisticated shade “Mineral Gray,” a deep navy-gray tone that beautifully complemented the natural stone walls.
Finally, we tackled the flooring, another vital component influencing both aesthetics and functionality. After removing the old carpet and thoroughly removing stubborn glue residue, we sealed the floor, installed a cement board base, and laid stunning “Mirazur Copa” ceramic tiles in the “Zaranda” style—a matte, dark-gray tile that provided visual depth and elegance.
For a Quick Project Overview, we’ve included a list of what we did:
- Removed built-in cabinets to expand room space
- Restored and reglazed ten storm window inserts
- Replaced three broken windowpanes
- Patched wall panels and primed all surfaces
- Applied three coats of Sherwin Williams’ Emerald paint in Mineral Gray
- Removed old carpeting, ground down glue residue

Upon completion, the renovated enclosed porch radiated sophistication and warmth. The new flooring and trim colors created stunning depth, highlighting the room’s natural stone textures and seamlessly connecting indoors to outdoors.

Most importantly, our clients were thrilled. Their renovated space now perfectly serves relaxation, social gatherings, or quiet enjoyment—all while remaining beautifully insulated from outdoor elements.
