Adding A Mancave To Your House

Q: We were thinking of doing a mancave for my husband for Father’s Day. Is this something you could help us with, and do you have any ideas as we don’t really have a particular theme in mind?

A: A mancave sounds like a really fun project and a great gift for Father’s Day! We have actually never redone a room with the pre-knowledge it would be used as a mancave, but we have found a lot of great ideas and themes online and this is certainly a project we could get on board with! Whether it is something we help you create with our knowledge & skills alone, or if we collaborate with others in similar trades, we know we can help turn your space into the mancave of your husband’s dreams! See below for just some of the ideas we have collected!

There are as many ideas for themes for mancaves as perhaps there are types of men. Some of the more popular themes revolve around sports – professional teams, hunting, fishing, surfing and the like; another great theme that’s trending right now is an industrial/rustic look. There are some very cool things one can do using galvanized metal, natural and barnwood, pipes, whiskey barrels and alcohol bottles, just to name a few.

Another fun theme is decorating around cars, planes, trains, motorcycles, etc. Car parts can be upcycled and used in so many ways as you can see, including bars, tables, pool tables, lamps, clocks, and more.

Further down you will see a more classical look, which is more formal but no less stunning – this cigar room/library type mancave. Originally often called a study, you may think of plush leather sofas and armchairs, a fireplace, shelves lined with first editions, maps and similar art on the walls, and sometimes a cool floor globe that opens as bar! It is a very sharp look, indeed!

The last mancave photo collage we have included revolves around all things tool related. Whether done in the garage, or basement, loft or shed, there are some neat ideas out there such as using saw blades as clocks, mounted on wood, tires for tables, tool chests for cabinets, tables and even vanities if your mancave has its own bath. There is even an axe stuck into a wall with hooks mounted on it to hold keys & similar items!

You can also go with a music theme using guitars, albums or CDs, amps, drums, jukeboxes and similar items. (not shown). Or just stick with the classics: a bar, lounging sofa, recliners for movie watching, and a pool table. Cheers men!
