Whether you just bought a new home, or you are thinking spring is the perfect time to give your home a fresh coat of paint, you want to pick the right paint colors that work for your home. If you have ever gone and looked at paint samples, you know there are a vast variety of paint colors available. Not only that, but there is barely a difference between many of them. It can be a bit overwhelming. But if you go into it with a general idea of what colors you want, or even if you have something you want to match to it, that gives you a starting point. Besides this, we also want to share with you some interior paint tips that may help narrow down the route you decide to go.
Ceilings
When painting your ceilings, you want to go with bright white. You may be thinking that is so common. Yes, that is true! But what bright white paint does for you, when painted on the ceiling, is it helps make the ceiling appear higher and the room feel less claustrophobic.
Light Colors
Do you have smaller rooms in your house? If so, consider painting them lighter colors. The reason is lighter-toned paint on walls can help small rooms appear larger and more spacious. We generally encourage you to stay away from darker colors in these smaller areas of your home. It can really reduce the size of the room in appearance retrospect. Lighter colors can include whites and other neutrals such as beige and grays, as well as lighter-shaded earth tones in greens and blues.
Warm Colors
For larger rooms, painting them in warmer color paints can help bring the room together and make it feel cozier. Warmer colors can include rich yellows and reds, and darker toned tans and greens, to name a few. The exception to these theories, of course, is if you are more concerned with sticking with a favorite color than the feel of the room size!
Accent Walls
If you want to give a room a dramatic change, adding accent walls can do just that. This allows you to also keep the cost of the painting down. The reason for this is you may only need to paint one wall, instead of the rest of the room if you find that you still like the main colors.
